Abercrombie, the Sign of Living in the City
by yee on Feb.02, 2010, under fashion
This is my first time to come to New York. This is also my first time to live without my parents' watch over me. In my word, I have been emancipated. That is why I feel so wonderful!
New York is a big city beyond my imagination. However, the room I live in is small within my reach. I actually live in a small dorm with my roommate, Alicia, in the beautiful campus of New York University. She and I both are classic music majors. We share so much in common in many ways it is probably because we both are from a small town. This is our first year in college. With a future filled with answers to be found, we look forward to every single day ahead, including what people we will meet, what the life will be like and how much big New York really is.
As we are immersed in the prospects of our future, a rude and irresponsible opinion thrown by any one walking past brought us into the following days. The opinion which categorizes us into rube may starts with the way we dress. Since we came to New York, we have always felt nothing wrong with our dress which my parents and friends in town like very much. Sunshine falls through the lush tree leaves next to the window of our dorm and into our room, and onto our face. With computer still on and an inanimate screen saver flashing alternatively in white and black, we, just like the inanimate computer, sat there silently in extreme depression. We were both thinking how we could integrate into the life of New York and how we can be accepted by our new classmates. As a girl next to our room told us, the answer is very simple. Only if you wear Abercrombie and Fitch, you will be definitely accepted and have more friends.

The first step in my life into the fifth avenue made me a little nervous. As a roaring music got closer and closer, we both knew we have almost got there. Our little and pure hearts were really scared by the dark and blurred interior decoration. With each step into the store, our hearts got a little more nervous. However, the robust and lively sales girls and boys blew our fears miles away with their passion and enthusiasm. We soon made new friends there. Before a sales girl told me, I would never know I perfectly fit Abercrombie. So does Alicia. We almost stayed there through the afternoon, trying new clothes one after another. In the end, we both bought the latest version of Abercrombie and Fitch. Wearing the same Abercrombie, we look more alike than ever and our friendship has been proven once again. The moment we stepped into our school, we both felt the air of welcome dispersing everywhere. This is simply chemistry. On the way back to our small dorm, there were countless "Hellos or Heys" coming to us. Alicia even asked me what happened to those people. For me, it is not about what happened to them. It should be about what happened to us.
Stepping in the dorm, we found sunshine still falls through the lush leaves and into the room, onto our face. It is not only all this time. There are two happy smiles added to the faces. With our giggles occurring, the inanimate computer came alive again with a click of the mouse when Alicia was ready to search something. Without telling me, I knew she was going to Google any new versions of Abercrombie.
