Jewelry is to women what cigar is to men. It goes without saying that most women are obsessed with jewelries, especially silver ones. However, when it goes to the maintenance of jewelry, most women are often at a loss.

As a matter of fact, if we can spare some time to learn the basic knowledge of the chemical property of silver, our beloved silver jewelry can be kept for a long time. Unlike gold and platinum, it is easy for silver products to suffer from oxidation because silver can easily react with water and other chemical substance in the air. Therefore, today I will share some tips about how to prevent your silver jewelry from being tarnished.

Actually, the best way to maintain silver jewelry is to wear it everyday since your body oils can make silver in a mild and natural color. And if you are not going to wear any of your jewelry, you should keep them in an airtight and dry container. In such a way, we can prevent the oxidation of silver's surface after it is exposed to air.

Easy cleaning method: put a little toothpaste on your silver jewelry, and then add some water. Rub gently until you can see small bubbles. And these wonderful pieces will look like new after you rinse them with clean water. To tell the truth, my precious links of London earrings are always cleaned in this way, and they are still in mint condition although I have kept them for three years.

Handle with care. Silver is so soft that it can easily be scratched. Therefore, you'd better not take some drastic activities when you are wearing silver jewels.

Keep the surface of silver dry. For instance, you should take off your necklace before you go swimming or do housework since both the seawater and base solution are born enemies of jewelry.

Take care of the color of your silver jewelry. As we all know, jewelry pieces made of silver are easy to become yellow. Thus once you find your silver ones have a trend to become yellow, you should use a small brush to remove the dust hid in the crevice. Then remove the black oxide on the surface of silver by using some tissues drenched with emulsion droplet.

In addition, there is another tip for you to recover silver's brightness. You can coat a film of transparent enamel on the new silver jewelry to avoid it turning to black. Coat it ten days a time. If you want to remove the enamel, you can dip your jewelry in the banana water. Then rinse it in clean water.

The above are some of my suggestions. Do you have any fantastic ideas on the maintenance of jewelry? If have, why not share with us? You are so welcomed!
